1. Booking
You can best reach us via Email under mailing@villaalcastello.com. Generally we will respond within a few hours. Via telephone we are irregularly available. Please leave us a voice message and we will contact you.
You can book directly on our homepage and will get an instant confirmation. Our availabilities and current prices are always up to date. However, if you have any further questions, please contact us by email and we will send you an offer. This option will be reserved for you without any obligations. You can accept the quote by confirming it online and making the deposit. You can easily pay by bank transfer to our German bank account. Alternatively, we also offer payment by credit card or PayPal.
In high season, Villa al Castello can be rented on a weekly basis from Saturday to Saturday. In spring and autumn, you can also book a short stay of 4 nights or more.
Upon completion of the booking, 5% of the rental price is due. 270 days before arrival 20% and 30 days before arrival the balance. Should your plans change, the booking can be cancelled. Payments made until then will not be refunded. Please note that the cancellation and payment conditions apply that are included in your offer. Find out rental terms here AGBs.
We love animals. However, since we consider the needs and possible allergies of subsequent guests, we are unfortunately usually unable to accommodate dogs. However, please contact us on a case-by-case basis.
2. Arrival, Check-in, Checkout
A few days before arrival you will receive all important information from us directly. Please read them carefully. We kindly ask you to inform our team on site of your arrival time two days before arrival. Please only use the contacts included in the arrival information to make these arrangements.
If you are coming from Munich or Innsbruck, then you will arrive via the Splugen Pass (only in summer) to Chiavenna and reach the northern end of the lake. In winter, coming from this direction, you drive through the Bernadino tunnel to Lugano and from there via Porlezza and Menaggio to the villa.
Coming from Basel, take the Gottardo and continue to Lugano. From there you can best reach us via Porlezza and Menaggio.
We recommend the free public parking around Castello Rezzonico. There are always plenty of safe parking facilities here. Please note that on weekly market days some of the parking spaces are closed.
Long-distance transport takes you by express train or ICE to Como or Lugano. There is even a direct ICE train once a day in less than 6 hours from Frankfurt. From the train station there are regular bus connections to Rezzonico. The bus stop is about 150m from Villa al Castello. If you have more luggage with you, we recommend that you use a pick-up service from the train station. We have long-standing partners who are happy to welcome you. Please contact us.
In the area there are several airports served by international airlines: Milan Malpensa and Milan Linate as well as Bergamo are each approx. 1 to 1.5 hours away from us.
The means of transport of choice on Lake Como is the boat. The way to the next ferry pier is usually short. There are passenger and car ferries as well as fast hydrofoils.
From many places you can take them to the nearby towns, to the central lake district or to Bellagio and Varenna. It is best to leave the car if you do not plan to continue driving, because especially in summer it is difficult to find parking spaces. The nearest ferry port is at the Grand Hotel Menaggio. Timetables can be found at www.navigazionelaghi.it.
Unfortunately, our postal address cannot be found in navigation devices, as our house is a bit off the road. Therefore, for the car navigators, use the address Rezzonico, Via Castello 48 or the coordinates 46 º04 ́15.4″N 9 º16 ́41.2″E.
On Google Maps you can search for “Villa al Castello Rezzonico” and then navigate directly „Villa al Castello Rezzonico“. You will arrive directly at the Castello Rezzonico. We are in a wonderfully quiet position away from the traffic. The last meters to the house lead over a partially paved path. From the Castello take the path Via Foppa to the left. It leads directly along the castle wall. Continue to the right for 20m along the castle wall into Via al Pastor. At the end of this footpath, your holiday with us begins.
The Villa al Castello is very quiet about 150 meters from the road and can be reached via a partially paved footpath. For the transport of your luggage and purchases, we are happy to provide you with a handcart.
Our team is looking forward to welcoming you directly at the house and showing you around Villa al Castello. We will then also answer all your questions. For this reason, it is important that you inform us of your arrival time in advance and update us about possible delays during your travel. Please plan your arrival if possible between 4 and 8 pm.
If you prefer a contactless check-in, please inform us in advance.
Checkout is by 10 am on the day of departure. Please let us know at the latest the day before when you are planning your departure. We would like to say goodbye to you personally, take over the house and settle the deposit with you.
3. Details about Villa al Castello
We provide each guest with a fluffy towel package. In summer there is also a pool towel for everyone. So, you can really enjoy yourself. Of course, the beds are all made up with high-quality bed linen. Arrive and start your holiday right away!
We are prepared for travelers of all ages! We not only have toys, Lego bricks, wooden railways, and children’s books in different languages, but of course everything that makes holidays with children easier and safer: children’s tableware, step stools, bed guard and of course child-proof sockets everywhere. If you are travelling with babies, please let us know in advance if you want to use our toddler equipment free of charge: cot, changing mat, diaper pail, bottle warmer, voice monitor and small carrycot. When you stay with us, you can travel light. We are also happy to provide you with a foldable city stroller.
Our kitchen not only looks great – as we think – but is also optimally equipped. We have enough crockery and glasses for larger gatherings. We have thought of everything from egg boiler to salad spinner and baking dishes. A special highlight is our barista coffee machine for your fresh beans. A selection of spices is always available in the kitchen.
Our pool is perfect for swimmers of all ages: 7m x 2.5m x 1.25m – the highlight: thanks to the black coating, it heats up quickly in summer.
Depending on weather conditions the pool is in operation from mid-April to the end of September. Dive in anytime between 6 am and 10 pm and enjoy the direct view of the lake and the mountain panorama opposite. If you prefer to relax, you will be happy to try our sun loungers in the garden.
We have hosted many anniversaries and family celebrations already. Generally, up to 14 guests can be seated around the table. We are happy to help you with the planning and arrange catering or a private chef for you. We can also help you with organizing decoration, photographer, and service staff according to your wishes.
Please note that out of consideration for the quiet neighborhood loud noise and outdoor parties after 10pm are not allowed. Fireworks may not be lighted due to the historic buildings in the village.
4. The area
In Rezzonico there are three bathing spots within walking distance.
-Foppa:
Still a real insider tip is our house beach Foppa. You will reach it after about 100m via a stone staircase from the house. The pebble beach is very shallow with a small stream mouth where the children like to build dams. Due to its position in the bay the beach is wind protected.
A public shower and a small picnic area invite you to spend a relaxing day at the beach.
–Rezzonico Beach:
Below the walls of the Castello Rezzonico, you reach a rocky beach directly over the harbor promenade where locals and fishermen meet during the summer. The impressive rock panorama is reminiscent of Caspar David Friedrich’s romantic artwork “Wanderer above the Mist “
–Rezzonico Südstrand:
At the beach bar Beach29 directly below the main road south of Rezzonico another beach is waiting for you. While the children play on the pebble beach, the parents enjoy an aperitif at the bar and admire the passing ships.
In Rezzonico there is a small Alimentari. There you will find a small selection for the daily needs: milk, bread, vegetables, and eggs. For weekly shopping we recommend the supermarkets in Porlezza, Menaggio or Dongo.
A special experience is to steer a motorboat on Lake Como yourself and explore the area at your own speed. The good news is: a boat license is not necessary, anyone with a driver’s license is allowed to steer a quite powerful boat on Lake Como.
The nearest boat rental stations can be found in Dongo or Menaggio directly at the harbor. For an extra charge you can also have a boat brought directly to Rezzonico.
On a hike in the heights, you can experience the magic of the area in a completely different way. Be sure not to miss a hiking day.
